Tickets.com Signs Agreements with Two Sports Venues In Greater Phoenix Area
COSTA MESA, CA – July 2, 2007 – Tickets.com, a leading provider of integrated
ticketing solutions, announced today that it signed contracts with two
sports complexes in the Grand Canyon State. The company signed a multi-year
agreement with the city of Peoria, Ariz., to provide advanced ticketing
technology for all events at the Peoria Sports Complex, including the Seattle
Mariners’ and San Diego Padres’ spring training games. Tickets.com also
renewed its contract with Mesa Sports Association for events at Hohokam
Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., including the Chicago Cubs’ spring training games.
Based on the new contract signed with the city of Peoria, Tickets.com now provides
ticketing technology for the spring training games of five of the 12 Cactus League’s
Major League Baseball teams. Tickets.com partners with the Oakland A’s and the
San Francisco Giants for regular season and spring training ticket sales and
continues to provide ticketing for the Cubs’ spring training games through its
agreement with Mesa Sports Association.
Built in 1994, the Peoria Sports Complex was the first Major League Baseball
spring training and player development facility in the country to be shared by
two teams. The venue also hosts concerts, art shows and other exhibits.
Under the new agreement, the Peoria Sports Complex will utilize some of Tickets.com’s
advanced technology, including Tickets@Home® and Access Control, which provides
fans with convenient online ticket printing and faster gate entry, and enables
the venue to track consumer behavior. Tickets.com will also install kiosks at
the Peoria Sports Complex for will call and advanced ticket sales.
“We reviewed other providers and found Tickets.com to be an excellent selection
for our venue. We are excited about the fan-friendly technological advantages
our fans will experience with its current offerings and future direction,” stated
Nathan Torres, Peoria Sports Complex operations supervisor.
The Cactus League holds the majority of its spring training games in the Greater
Phoenix area, drawing fans from around the country and contributing more than
$3 million to the local economy in the 2007 season. The Cubs led MLB in total
home attendance this spring, drawing 175,891 fans to Hohokam Stadium during the
2007 season.
“Tickets.com was instrumental in enabling us to manage our record-breaking ticket
sales,” said Nancy Hunter, director of ticketing for Chicago Cubs Spring Training.
“We’re renewing our agreement with Tickets.com because the company offers the
forward-thinking technology that consumers want,” she stated, referring specifically
to the addition of Access Control and Tickets@Home for the 2008 spring training
season.
