Title: Venue Ticket Manager - Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
Location: Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, Canada (February 2010)
- Willing to work long shifts during the period of the Olympics in February 2010
- Must be a Canadian citizen or legally eligible to work in Canada
Reporting to the Regional Ticket Manager, this position includes the following duties and responsibilities:
- The Venue Ticket Manager is responsible for the daily operation and supervision of the box office at any one Olympic Games competition venue including managing and scheduling of the box office staff and box office supervisor.
- Representing Ticketing at all Venue team meetings (daily pre-event briefing and daily post-event debriefing)
- Oversee operations at the venue's ticket validation point(s)
- Makes final decision on ticket related issues and contacts the Regional Manager in regards to all critical issues
- Oversees spectator seating relocations and customer service issues within the seating bowl
- Enforces all VANOC TKT policies and procedures
- Serves as ticket system administrator for systems operations
- Maintains an accurate seating manifest and manages inventory for sales
- Reviews status and disposition of all sold seats and accounts for each session
- Coordinates special sales and release of seats held for that purpose
- Primary TKT contact on-site during the Games
The successful applicant will have:
- Knowledge of box office management principles gained through a minimum of three years' ticketing experience; knowledge of the Tickets.com ticketing system, especially PV will be considered a definite asset
- Knowledge of ticket resale, consignment and transfer by primary account holders (My Tickets)
- Supervisory experience in a box office environment considered a must.
- Excellent customer service skills, especially in highly stressful situations and a fast paced environment
- Sensitivity to a diverse international clientele
- Strong computer skills, fundamental accounting and cash control experience are essential.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, work well under pressure for extended periods of time
- The ability to stand for long periods of time and, if required, walk distances over uneven terrain (ie, on snow at Whistler)
- Willing to work long shifts during the period of the Olympics in February 2010
- May be required to be outside during venue load-in
- Must be a Canadian citizen or legally eligible to work in Canada
- Fluency in French is an asset
- The ability to communicate well and work as part of a team with a minimum of supervision is essential
NOTE: All successful candidates will be subject to a RCMP background check. Compensation will be a fixed term rate. There will be NO compensation offered to cover transportation to and from Vancouver or for housing in Vancouver. Shared accommodation for those working in Whistler may be provided - preference will be given to candidates who can provide their own accommodation in Whistler.
